New Smoke Signals from Chief…

8 07 2008

Hello from the Hilltop,

Staff Week 2008 has come to a close and we would like to share with you some of the exciting things that God has been doing here at Camp already this summer. God has blessed abundantly by meeting many vital needs. The following are just a few of the ways God has provided: willing servants that fill the much needed positions of nurses and staff members, volunteers that have fixed plumbing and installed a new exhaust fan for the kitchen, and an increase in camp registrations.

Along with these blessings, our Lord has also provided us with camps that are full - Pioneer Camp was full, Junior Adventure Camp is full, Outdoor Leadership Girls and Guys are Full, and Outdoor Skills Camp Girls and Boys are full. We still have openings in Fantastic Adventure and Teen Quest; Family Week also has a few openings available. Praise the Lord that He has provided us with so many wonderful Little Opportunities to minister to!

Pioneer Week - This summer we tried something new! In the middle of Staff Week, we had twenty-two 6-8 year olds arrive at camp for a three day experience called Pioneer Week. They had an exciting time participating in signature Camp activities such as Handcrafts, Indian Soccer, and Camp Craft. Most importantly, they got to hear the Word of God three times from Pastor Ralph Verdu. As a whole, all enjoyed the experience and expressed desires to return next year for a full week of camp.

In the past few days the staff have been able to reflect on the experiences gained during Pioneer week. The Lord has shown Himself faithful to Camp, as always, causing “…all things to work together for good to them that love God…” Romans 8:28a.

We are now at the start of Junior Adventure Week, what a blessing it is to see 80 campers taking in God’s Word and taking part in the many experiences that can be had at Camp Northfield.

Prayer and Praise -
We still need a nurse for Fantastic Adventure Camp
We have had 3 salvation decisions so far this week
Spiritual decisions and safety for the campers

Well, its time to head down to the chapel - I love to listen to the campers sing and to God’s messenger as he brings forth God’s Word.

Thank you for your continued prayers and all your support throughout the years and this summer.

Camp Northfield - Where memories are made and lives are changed -
Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know I am God…”

God Bless,
Dave (Chief) Byron
